A dispatch handoff is more than a shift change. It is the transfer of context: what is booked, what has changed and what needs attention next.
Start with a consistent checklist: upcoming trips, driver status, special instructions, open exceptions and outstanding vendor confirmations. Give each unresolved item a named owner.
Separate urgent escalations from routine updates. Define which changes require immediate attention and which belong in the end-of-day report.
Review the checklist with the people using it. A useful handoff process should fit the actual operation, not create another layer of unnecessary work.
